Howdy All,
I've noticed that many of the knives posted in this forum, while handmade, are not always custom, as in, made to a customers specifications.
This knife was completely conceived and designed by the customer, who can identify himself if he so wishes. :)
It was one of the most difficult knives I've ever made. :)

Steel is W2, forged from 1-1/4" round stock, with a very nice hamon.
Handle scales are natural micarta.

My sad attempts at capturing the hamon:

Thanks for looking!

Phillip

very nice knife Mr. Patton...and i love hamon line on that blade profile. the contours of the handle is definitely sexy. reminds me of some Filipino knives/swords. great job, sir.

THANKS PHILLIP!!!!!

this baby is all mine! i drew it up and sent a pic to Phillip and asked if he can make it. i already had a small custom utility knife made by Phillip, so i already knew his work was top notch. my guess is that the guard was the hardest part to make? well if you can't tell the inspiration for my design is part busse and part hossom. i think it's pretty cool...:D

so for all you fellas out there that have some design stuck in your head, give Phillip a try. as you can see from the pics above, you won't be disappointed;)

Thanks everybody for the feedback!
madfast, I can't really point to any one thing that made this one of the most challenging knives I've done. Maybe it was having to redo the scales, or trying to grind and polish the complex handle shape, or, or, or, :D
I can see the Busse influence, (the blade reminds me of the Battle Mistress)
but I'm not familiar enough with Hossom's work to recognize it.

sorry this one was such a pain to make Phillip. i don't think you'll like what i have in store for you next then...:D

Great looking BLADE!!!!!

I have one of Phillip's Knives and could not be more pleased with it!!!

Great Job Phillip--:)

and Madfast--great design as well!!!

That's a neat looking knife. Very interesting stuff going on in the steel there too.

Say, Phillip, whatever happened to the bowie you were building? I was really enjoying that thread and I'm itching to see the completed knife

No need to apologize. I would call it a pain, so much as a challenge, which is a good thing. :)
And when are you going to let me in on what your next project is?:D

Thanks Bill! I'm glad you're happy with your knife. You mentioned before that the handle is a little thicker than you'd like; I could slim it down a little for you if you'd like. :)

Thanks! BTW, that integral you posted is sweet! You inspired me to try one myself. I just haven't gotten started yet...

The bowie is still in progress... I'll probably pick it up again this week.
Thanks for asking! I'm glad to know people are enjoying that thread.
