I purchased my first Crowell knife in 1979, a small stock removeal drop point. And at that he was useing his name for his stamp. Since then I have purchased several others for my collection. Last weekend I was at Uncle Dave Smith, Jim's brother-in-law and a sheath maker and traded for this earily Damascus with file work and a Spanish notch This is not Jim,s first knife, but it is one of his early works. The blade is 6 1/2"X 1/4" X 1" and the over all length is 10 3/4". The handle is Osage orange wood scales and it has a brass ferrule and 8 brass pins.
