Fellow Knife Nuts,

When I first received, used, and abused my Ratmandu --- I thought it was perfect. Then when Jerry released the INFIdu --- I knew it was destined to overtake it. Less maintenance --- Tougher steel ---- and a Drop Dead Knockout when cleaned up nice!

Having recently acquired this after foolishly letting go my beautiful Satin on Black Paper Mirror Polished Infidu ---- I decided it was in need of a proper cleaning and "optimizing". I really worked on the shoulders to make a very clean consistently flat V edge that bites crisply. I might shave with it later tonight. For now though -- I thought why not show you all my restored beauty and a great Al Welke Sheath to go with it.

Check it out . . .

I used the Wicked Edge Field & Sport Pro model with several accessory stones and strops. This one took a long time because it required heavy reprofiling to have a consistent 19 degree (38 degree inclusive) edge. One the knife is optimized -- future sharpening is very easy and fairly quick.

Rob,

I would suggest grinding back the primary grind on that one, would make the performance even better. You could go all the way down to .025" without problems, if you have a pair of calipers. Good job, reminds me of the one I did that just found a new home recently… though mine was much coarser (140x).

The last 1.5"off the blade at the top is what takes so much time. Excellent job Rob as always.

For some reason after reading only the title I was expecting to see a mirror polished B.I.G. infidu rather than a mirror polish edged infidu... still looks nice though. :)

Yes!!! I wish mine looked that good!!!!

Very impressive. Good job! [emoji106]

Thanks gents! --- I love Optimizing any blade, especially one from my favorite Knife company

Sorry Tim -- I should have titled it mirror polished edged B.I.G Infidu. Although I like to think I do a little more than simply put a mirror polish on the existent edge. Either way -- I love this thing :)

Breavis is totally right --- the last 1.5 inches takes a really long time because you're basically converting sometimes a 60 degree inclusive edge into a 38 degree one (Take Forever).

My next project will probably be the Beefmandu or my Competition Finish Hand Shaped/Smoothed Tiger Hide SOB.
