One of my cheapest knives just became one of my favorites

Usually, my more expensive knives become a little more special to me. Better fit, finish, materials, etc. This isn't the case here. I turned one of my most basic knives into one of my favorites with a couple simple mods. I'm pretty happy carrying this simple folder, so I just wanted to post it up. Let me know what you think :)

-Pocket clip
-Glass breaker tip

Other than that, just a little patina. Svord Peasant

Good mods (but you can still grind off that silly pointy butt...). I like the clip and as the blade is a freaking steel, I'd say you have an incredibly powerful EDC...

Do you mean the bump that sticks up at the end of the tang when the knife is open? I find that it sits in a place where it is not very noticeable in my hand, and it aids in pushing the blade into the fully-open position. I've thought about it, but not a problem at this point. Maybe in the future :)

I don't understand these knives.
Why the big hunk of protruding tang when the knife is closed.
Kind of inconvenient in the pocket.
Why not just use a slipjoint?

The long tang folds out and into the back of the handle. As long as your hand is gripping the handle, the long tang acts as a sort of "lock" to keep the knife in the open position. Yes, the long tang isn't ideal when carrying, but it doesn't bug me too much. I think I agree, carrying it inside the pocket (without a pocket clip) would be annoying. I also like this knife because it is kinda different.

It's basically a simple lock. Your hand holds it in place which makes it difficult to impossible for the blade to close on your fingers.

Excellent mods. Svord Peasants are such good value and have such great character. What you have there is a unique, quirky and utilitarian edc - I like it :)

Can't wait for mine to arrive!

Have you put any thought into using a different attachment method for the clip? There are things (just abot a dollar a piece) called "Push-in threaded inserts for plastics", you would be able to use them in the holes you've already drilled and it would eliminate the nuts there. (Check nccole's thread in the spyderco sub-forum about converting the milli to tip-up) I picked my inserts up from fastenal, just had to wait a few days while they got them in (oh and convince them to split up the 100pk they're sold in, but they didnt mind)

Make some scales for it and you will like it even more!!
I made 2 peasants with micarta scales, gave one to my dad for fathers day. Sweet knives

The peasant is one of my favorite knives. It's a versatile knife that is equally at home in the kitchen or the woods. It is bulky, but lightweight so one gets used to carrying it. I just got a mini as well, working out some kinks. The best thing about the Peasant is the L6 steel.

The protruding tang works well as a bottle opener if you use the lever technique. If you square it up, you can use it as a striker for fire steel. Lots if ways to use that tang.

Thanks. I will definitely look into that change.

I have considered making a new handle with another material, but not sure how to do it nicely.

Very nice!
I had a Red but it was bumped by an SnG. With a folder, like things tucked in.
