This was a fun little outing to one of my favorite spots, its a thick area tucked between the train tracks and a water treatment plant.
It also has some meaning to me since when I first came to Portland this is the woods I lived in.
Made a small fire for some coffee, did some field sharpening, ID'ed some plants, got followed by an angry little squirrel, and twisted up some cordage for a new bow drill bow string. Also got eaten alive but the mosquitoes.
Here is a view of it.
Giant Horsetail (Equisetum telmatiea)
Springbank Clover (Trifolium wormskjoldii)
Common Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale)
Poison Hemlock (Conium maculatum)
This little guy followed me for like 15 minutes chirping at me none stop.
Here you can see just how thick the area is.
Before making some shaving and feather sticks for my fire I touched up the edge on my BK2 with my Lansky diamond pen.
It really is a great spot to just get away to.
I twisted up a new bow string.
Here it is.
A great slicer!
