One of my first knives! Made from a file.

I made this about two days ago. Its made from a file, and only a hand grinder, sandpaper, and a wet stone was used. Its not a utility tool since the file drags roughly through material, and its only OK at chopping. Its strictly a combat knife. This is maybe my first successful knife, but not my first attempt. Its wrapped in paracord, and not completely finished. I'm going to try and make it a mirror polish.

Since it's a chisel grind I would recommend removing the teeth on the unground side, atleast half way up. This could be something contributing to it dragging through material instead of cutting. And how did you go about sharpening it? Grinders are mainly just to establish the bevels, after that you want to hit with with coarse and fine Arkansas stones..or if you don't have them, good coarse and fine files. I can't really tell, but it does appear that the bevels have too large of a angle as well.

As far as the design itself, you could very well make it functional for utility. Just tweak the edge some as mentioned above and I think it'll be set. Don't let all of this discourage you or anything; just telling you what might be causing it to not cut well.

Well established grind lines, good photography, and good paracord wrapping.

Nice work! I like that you used a half round file for the knife.
