Here is one of my latest completions, a big Bowie. I don't often name my knives but I have decided to call this one the Last Frontier Bowie. It has a 10 inch damascus blade of 15N20 and 1095. The handle is 5 1/2 inches long and has a base of mammoth bone with inlays of (starting at the guard) mammoth tooth, oosik, fossil walrus ivory, musk ox horn, mammoth ivory and steppe bison horn. The guard is mokume. The sheath has beaver tail leather and porcupine quillwork. The stand is of spalted birch and caribou horn.

The owner of the knife has a stagecoach that he rides in parades, he plans to wear the knife on his stagecoach.

Please let me know what you think. Thanks for looking Mark

Great looking knife Mark!
I really like the pattern in the steel.
Looks like good Ironwood burl.

Quite a show stopper there Mark - beautiful. Is that a frame handled construction? I can't tell from the picture.

It is a full, tapered tang. The knife was forged to shape and cleaned up on the grinder.

Thanks for all the kind words, everybody

no one does it quite like you, Mark. This one is my favourite to date- love that old skool clip with that long swedge and the weird but endearing ricasso. Usually, a big ricasso turns me off, but there's something about it with this knife that I REALLY like. Not to mention all that funky handle stuff and that active damascus.
A real treat, this knife. I like it a lot.

The materials alone are AWESOME Mark! The damascus pattern looks great, and that stand makes an amazing package!

Nice work my friend! I really like the mosaic handle, that's so cool looking! Thanks for showing it. :D

Mark, So what didn't you use in the handle? Very interesting way that you inlaid the handle. Great looking package!
