Just a little Puukko I'd made with my own ten thumbs.

I was originally making it for a KISS simple EDC for myself, but then realized I love my current one too much to give it up.

Blade is 3 3/4 inches, hair poppin' sharp, and pretty darn pointy.

As y'all can tell, I cheated like crazy on the handle. At first it was a temporary measure while I was grinding the blade, but then I realized it really was pretty darn comfortable! (I did extend the tang to 3 1/4" though)

It's already gone though. went away to one of my sons closest friends for his tenth B-day. I figure every boy needs a decent Puukko...:D

Sure was fun to make though!

Looks like a winner to me, I love puukkos  Makes me think about that thread a while back about bird & trout knives. Why not a good puukko? Just the ticket IMHO. :D

Just the ticket . A good knife is part of the education a boy needs to become a man . I must be a beer drinker . I love knives with a little belly on them .;)

Thanks, Sarge! I kinda like how it came out with an "old fashioned" appearance. (not the kinda "old fashioned" noted on the North Slope Scraper:D )

My son cleaned his very first trout with a Puukko recently.

This one, infact: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/karieann69/detail?.dir=2681&.dnm=20da.jpg

Did a fantastic job with it, and not even close to missing any fingers. He's nine years old, and was covered in fish blood and slime from fingertips to elbows.:D

Thanks Kevin and JurT, I appreciate the kind words!

Hey!! Damn fine work Sir. Thats just sweet. I've not done a classically shaped puukko yet. I need to....

Very nice indeed. And yeah, every kid needs a decent knife as a rite of passage. Shows you think well enough of them to give them a real tool, and trust them not to do stupid things with it...

Thanks Munk. He is a great kid. My sons best friend. They were tent mates at Scout camp, fish, play in the woods, wrestle, play army, read books , build things... all the things that boys oughta be doin'. The boy also has a genuine interest in knives and the outdoors.

Definitely a real boy. Not one of the types I see so frequently these days that seem so....frail. half my sons friends go into play station withdrawals and can spend every waking moment of a half day hike griping and moaning about it.
