Here is my REKAT Carnivore, post-modification. There are a lot more pics on my webpage. Look for the link that says "Carnivore Project" in the navigation bar.

I'm not quite sure what I think of the clip. Anyone? Let me know what you think of it!

After doing this project I certianly have a lot of respect for the work of Frank Recupero, Corduroy, et al. Not to mention all the custom makers that do this! It was a lot of work, but I am generally happy with the way it turned out. Now, if only I could figure out how to do new scales on this sucker....

I like it. I like the clip also. Maybe you can do mine

I think new scales would be pretty cool as well. The hard part would be milling out the section for the rolling lock slide bar thingie.

I like it, the clip too. Looks like a great many hours went into it too, looks to be time well spent.

Just because I talk to myself does not make me crazy. Now, when I listen to myself, that makes me crazy.

Outstanding filework. Some sort of stabilized, dark red hardwood would have a nice feel to it for handle scales perhaps? I've got a breakfront concealex sheath that Mike Sastre made for me; I wanted a little more retention so I drilled a hole in the concealex sheath over where the clip screw is in the handle of the knife, shortened the clip screw so it could be tightened all the way down to the handle surface, and now it's great.

I'd love to make these mods to a mini Axis with some sort of fancy schmancy scales to boot. Professor.

Te only way I would be able to change scales on this knife would be to very carefully use a little Dremel bit on my drill press, but I doubt it would be possible with my setup. The Pioneer I may be a little easier to do, but even that would be quite a challenge. I have probably 3-3.5 hours in this knife, so not too bad. If you were to actually lay out the pattern, measure everything, and be careful to match the liners up it would probably take a lot longer. This is freehand, so I saved a lot of time by skipping the important steps!

Hi Steve,

That knife looks good. It seems that your knife work is as good as your sheath work.

Looks pretty Sweet!

Hey Professor, how does a 905 Mini-Axis with solid pearl handle scales, (no clip or screw holes) high polished / fileworked steel liners, anodized / fileworked Ti. / full back spacer, and a fileworked / high polish blade sound? You may want to shoot Dale Reif an email about it. He's supposed to do a Starmate for me.

Have him add you to the list. Right now it looks like he can get to it near the end of April / May.
