I'm sure there are tackier-looking ones from really cheap/garbage brand Chinese-made knives out there, but for a well-known company, Crkt has released one of the most tackiest looking ones I'ver seen.

It's the Fulcrum Flame. Seriously?

Ot-OH,It looks kinda cool to me.I don't understand the opening operation they are talking about tho.Push down the frame?

I agree with the OP - they look silly to me, but I'm sure a close up look would probably change my mind.

When I first saw the Kershaw rainbow Leek, I thought the same thing. I literally busted out laughing. Later, I got to handle one, and really liked it.

thx - cpr

Pretend that there is another pivot at the bottom of the knife. You slide the top scale of the handle to the left and the blade opens about half way, then you slide the scale back to the right, and the blade opens the rest of the way.

Honestly I find the fulcrum opening system to be very awkward. It's unique and nobody else does it.....but maybe there's a reason for that. I find that that applies to quite a few of CRKT's designs.

CRKT tries out some wacky designs and I think the industry is better for it.

Yuck. I like CRKT but that looks too cheapish. I dont like the colors or the blade and handle design. I guess im more of a plain guy.

Maybe CRKT will mass produce the beauty below next. :D

Kidding aside, the Fulcrum isn't my style either but I don't find it all that bad - Wouldn't carry one myself but I'm betting it would be a real hit as a gift for one of my 10-16 yr. old nephews.

CRKT has great EDC knives line this year.
No more ubertactical black fighters but they are just folding knives.
Some are blue, some are orange, long, short, assisted, non assisted, slim, bulk, rotating, pushing, locking. All varieties.

Crkt has tries to make tools for allmost everyone. Great move for knife society.

And when it comes to flame - not my style, but design is very, very nice.

I don't really like how they look, but the opening method is pretty dang fun looking. Kind of the CRKT equivalent of the ET.

I guess the issue with either knife (I love the ET, before anyone flames me) is that...opening doesn't need to be reinvented. It works great. Hell, closing is pretty much set too, if you have hawk lock or axis lock (or one of their copies).

I don't like CRKT's designs anymore. They have become cheesy and cheap looking to me. I don't mind color used, but they should have more sense of style.

I own one of the original CRKT Fulcrums and it is in EDC rotation, I like the action and the ease of opening. I would like one of the Flames if they made it plain with the flame on the scale, might be one that new scales would fix.

Wow that is one ugly ass knife! Flaming is a good name for it.

That said CRKT is allways pushing the envelope with their designs(well marketing really). I thing overall this is a good thing otherwise we would all be carrying the same thing. Whats the fun in that?

I'm with you here bro!

I recently bought the Carson M4-03 which is a great folder for the price I paid. However the auto lawks system is pretty flimsy and I can't see it lasting more than a year after heavy use. However, it can be disengaged, but this is not the point. Do something and do it right or don't even bother as far as I am concerned.

The other knife was a cheapo Chinese made Laredo 7265. Great blade but a nightmare to open in that it is far too tight (even with pivot screw loosened way out) and the clip has about 5mm play as it is only secured to the scales by the pivot. Impossible to open one handed with thumb stud (hence a waste of time). I wonder how this one got past final testing as it is a disaster.
Emailed CRKT but they are obviously not interested.

CRKT - stop trying to be to "artsy" & cut out the gimmicks and stick to the great knives of the past

You have lost me as a customer.

Pay the extra $$$ and stick to Menchmades I suppose

I'm with the majority here, like to see lots of variety in the knife world so good on CRKT for the effort, but a bit on the tacky side for my tastes.
