One of Those Odd Awkward Moments...

With the air quality being as bad as it has been here, due to a forest fire a few miles away, Alayna and I stayed inside for the weekend. She, like most of the people here right now, has a bad enough cough already from being out in the smoke just going to and from school, and recess last week.Part of the time we hung out and played games, and then I decided to fix us a nice brunch on Sunday, and do some more studying on accent pieces for shots I am working on. This was one of those odd moments. One where I realized that I am going to need multiples of the Gaucho and a Padre or two in order to do this right. There will be more than just a couple of different kitchens involved in this project. All I could do was sigh, admit there was nothing else for it, and then go on with the photo experiment, and plan on seeing what I can land in the future. I'm glad to see more Gauchos being made lately with wooden handles. Alayna got a kick out of helping me add a bit of human...or rather Hobbit factor to my experiments :)

ok, now I'm freaking hungry

Yeah, Hobbits can have that effect... There were times when I was reading the story whilst living on the streets, that the number of times the Hobbits ate was almost maddening. I suppose my ability to cook foods from scratch using only a few pans and an open fire is another thing I am indebted to Tolkien for.

Now that's a breakfast. Good idea to keep clear of the smoke, nasty stuff.

Brush fires are popping up all over. We have a small one here in my local state park in NY. Fortunately we are getting drowned with rain today. I spent some time living in western NC, so I have been keeping up with the evacuations and news. I hope it all gets under control and am praying for the people affected and the teams fighting the fire.

It's been a dry year all over and now there is plenty of accelerant littering the ground, be safe out there

Clearly staying inside with Brian is a pretty good choice – especially if you are hungry.

It has been really dry here this year, we are behind our usual rain fall by almost two feet.

There are actually three fires currently on the mountain range we live on, all north of us. The closest is now about 90% contained according to the local paper today. The other two are still going. Then there is another to the south of us, somewhere on Lookout Mtn. The air quality is a lot better today up here on the mountain, the winds are out of the west now. But it's not so great in the valley below. These shots were taken yesterday afternoon. from a small park on the East Brow here. The first is looking northeast in the direction of the fires, the second is looking east, and the third is looking southeast with Chattanooga on the left side of the shot and Lookout Mtn on the right.

I'm the family cook so I get to decide on the menu :D

Indeed! Looks delicious

Thank you sir, we thought it was pretty good, though next time the blueberry pancakes are getting maple syrup :)
