Dude, I like it! Looks like it'll stick pigs just fine. One thing I would change if I made it, would be a guard. Not a traditional style, but one that is just part of the profile on top and bottom, make sense? Maybe I can find a pic of what I mean later, if I don't make sense.
Is knife #2 a clone to this one? 16" is a little big if your huntin javalina! Ferral pigs on the other hand...
Well done

That looks great Ryan. I am torn on a large guard for a hog sticking knife.
People often feel like their hand will slide forward onto the blade during a powerful stabbing thrust. I think if the knife has a good grip and a sharp point there will not be enough resistance to actually cause you any problems. That guard looks like it would be enough to me. I am no hog sticking expert, so I do not know. Does anyone actually know of someone getting cut this way?
One idea that I have had for some time that I have never seen would be two guards on either side of the scales that fold up and lock into place. When you get close and ready for the sticking, you fold up and lock your guards, when your done you fold them back and they vanish into the handle of the knife. That way the guards is not in your way on your belt or when using the knife for other things.
That would definitely be cool to see, but way out of my League!I am with you, I do not like the look of a guard either. What I was thinking was like a couple of small unsharpened lock blades with smooth edges that fold out and lock at a 90 degree angle to the blade to form the guard. The pivot point would be where you show the post above. One pivots from the top of the knife handle and one pivots from the bottom of the handle. When they are not in use they fold into the handle like a folding knife. Does that make sense?
Probably too complicated and gimmicky to justify the engineering of it. Just kind of surprised I have never seen any knife with something like that.
Post photos when you get to use that knife! Good luck and be safe.
Shawn, "D Para-guard" (That is what I am calling it) will work great I tied one up last night and it works like a charm. and Thanks for the HUGE compliment on the grinds and designs, I am working on it!Ryan, I think once you get that paracord d guard on it, it will be close to perfection. The size is just right for the task it is intended for as well. You always come up with some of the best knife designs, and your grind lines are superb.
