One off LC, and other weirdness

my buddy, Russ, helped us all out by applying his vector-fu to my drawing of CPK's logo, so in a gesture of appreciation for Russ' work, Nate sent along a special LC for him.

You'll notice the beautiful apres temper straw coloured hue in the fuller and along the spine, the hand finished flats and the convex bevel.
























Russ is my trail building buddy, but we haven't spent much time in the woods together in quite awhile, due in part to his new marriage, new house and his charity work. Hopefully this LC will give him the kick in the pants he needs to get back out of the trail!




and a set of throwing knives for me! I'll need to soften the corners a little for a cord wrapping, and I'll probably dull the edges because these bastards are sharp as you'd expect. Can't wait to give em a hurl.


 
Cool Lorien. I loved the straw colour on that LC when I had it here. Probably the first time I ever had a knife in hand that still had its colour from HT in place with an edge on it.
 
That's an awesome looking LC!
Hopefully he can make some time to use it. Home Depot and Bed Bath and Beyond take up so much time as it is.

Russ was finally able to sneak outta the city and come out my way to tend to a trail that he's maintaining with his 12 year old son.
Here's what he sent me;



he's a big bastid! Used to be packing around a 'winter coat', but ever since he started training for Highland Games, he's gotten pretty lean. I think he told me he was around 280# back when he was outta shape. That's like two of me. Anyway, way to go Russ! Happier and healthier than ever :)

OMG that's a big dude. His hand takes up that whole handle.
 
got a few free moments at work on Saturday to prep my throwers, and spent some time today getting a feel for them. Have to say, I got used to them pretty quick! Not as nice to throw as one with the proper handle, but release is smooth so spin is controllable

I'll have to be careful with these in the dry season, I bet they'd throw sparks something fierce! Highest hardness throwing knives of all time
They'll spend a few days outside, let's see how Delta'd 3V holds up against corrosion...

those three are Field Knives which didn't pass final QC. The handles are wrapped with polyester cordage and coated with resin, and I dulled them by pulling the edge along a file, (took a couple more strokes than I thought!).
