I am looking for a heat curing one part epoxy. It need to be optically clear and be non yellowing. It also need to be quite thin with a low CPS viscosity. I have searched around and found 3m and masterbond makes some. I’m kinda digging the masterbond EP101HTX-3 epoxy. But I have no idea where to buy there product.

Have any of you ever used there product or know where to buy it. Also any other epoxys I should check out?

Thanks guys - JT

Does it have to be heat curing? Whenever I need an optically clear epoxy, I use one designed for optics...either Norland 63 or 61. Both are UV curing, and have proven very scratch resistant in my experience with no yellowing after a decade in some of my applications :)

i am curious of the amount of heat it can handle before failing as compared to regular 2 part epoxy :)

I was considering UV cure but not all of the epoxy will be reachable with light.

Another good possibility is using the VHB adhesive sheets from 3M. They come in thicknesses from .002 to .125".

The stuff sets up in a few minutes and slowly cures over a few days. They put airplane parts together with it ... as well as put granite facia slabs on buildings. This is STRONG stuff. I have used it on rivetless handles and none have failed.

I’m thinking more for my cord wrap. I have also considered pre soaking the cord and wiping down and then wrapping.

Check out polymer composites in ontario ca, they make an entire line of resins for impregnanting. Ask for Gerald, he is the owner and chemist. He will get you a great high impact, clear, food safe resin for your cord

I honestly don't know how it would work as an epoxy, but stabilizing resin cures at 200F, is optically clear, and very thin.

For cord wrap, just use standard thin epoxy resin like clear coat. You only apply a small amount to the cord. It wicks in and disappears. When cured, the cord is rock solid but looks like normal paracord.

I have been using systems three clear coat. And yes it is good but wanted something thinner or somthing with a longer pot life. That’s what directed me to one part heat cure epoxys.

Use the extra slow 209 hardener and pour the epoxy in a wide shallow container. Pot life can be an hour
