Just curious, when you check the members viewing its usually below
one percent of the total registerd members its probably a good thing
but does anyone know why?It cant be lack of bandwidth,I never have
any trouble logging in.

One of the forums I frequent had less than 0.4% (four-tenths of a percent) of the total registered users online when I checked a sec ago. One percent is not really that bad...

I think that there might be alot of folks who register, trade/sell something here at BF, and then don't come back 'till they are looking to trade/sell something again. Or maybe they just aren't as nutz about knives as the rest of us are, and move on to something else.:D.

An after-thought: Too bad there isn't something built in to the software where if a registered user doesn't post within a 45 day period, that they are automatically taken "off the board", and their name is removed.

Good point, after all we do have an international community :D

Only about fifteen to twenty percent of the 15,000 members use BladeForums on a fairly regular basis. Much of the total membership numbers are made up of people that seldom if ever check out what is happening here any more. Spark just culled the membership numbers by about 5500 a few weeks ago. I would be willing to bet that if he were to clean out all the old members that haven't posted in the last six months, that he could lower the number by a few thousand more.

Think of it as quality not quantity that matters.

Yeah, you, me, and Glockman99 have 15,000 thought provoking and compelling posts between the three of us, right?:p

Were they all thought provoking?

The participation rate over here is still quite high. There are so many registered users who never posted (although they were deleted some time ago - Keith already mentioned that - I'm sure new ones were coming since then), people who don't post/read anymore and people who only check the forums every couple of weeks. 1% isn't all that low.
