one-piece Fairbairn-Sykes. Possible? Waste of time?

I've always admired the Fairbairn-Sykes designs, but they always seemed fragile to me. Maybe I'm just listening to hype, but the design looks weak at the tang, and of course the tip. I was thinking of one fleshed out on a lathe at first, to get the sculpted handle, and then finished on grinders for a more wedge-like blade as thick as the guard at the center cross-section, and hollow ground out so it still functions as a cutter, and not just an ice pick.
Does this sound feasible, and if so would it be worthwhile?
Brought to a nice blued finish so it gleams, I think it could be a nice strong dagger based on the classic design. But would it just be tons of work for something that is really not any stronger than the original?

Take a look at the Chris Reeve one piece knives .I bought a S-F reproduction years ago just as an example .It is sometimes referred to as a "light duty combat knife " !!! I haven't heard of breaking at the tang but the tip breaking apparently was fairly common. To have something practicle you'd have to redesign the knife.
