The one piece knives have many benefits. However, the downfalls are that in a cold climate the handle can be quite cold in the hand. In addition, the aggressive texturing can be rough on bare hands. Also, solid steel and electrical shocks go together.

My suggestion would be to add an alternative line that uses Micarta or G10 to cover the handle while allowing all the benefits of a one piece knife !

If it were that cold out, you would be wearing gloves. I agree, metal will radiate the cold more, but with gloves on it should not be uncomfortable.

I don't play near electricity with knives or any other metal objects in my hand, so it's not an issue with me.

The texturing is not too aggressive. I'm a desk jockey, but do have some callus from lifting weights. My hands are not as tough as they were when performing manual labor for a living. Yet, they can easily handle the one piece texturing without any feeling of discomfort.

I love my one piece, Mountaineer II. For me, it's the best overall size, weight, balance, ect. It's just right.

Just between you and me, if the weather gets that cold, I'll take my Green Beret. :D

There is no "one" tool that is best for "all" conditions.....
