Hi all,

I am a huge fan of the CRK one piece line(don't have a Sebenza currently :( ). In particular I like the Project series, the larger Shadow 1, the Sable and the new GB knife.
I also like to read and listen to any and all stories pertaining to these awesome tools.
So, if anyone has any stories they would like to share please post them here.
Thanks for you time.

This isn't much of a story, but it's what I've got.

I have a Shadow III that I've never had occasion to use. When a fireman friend of mine was going to Afghanistan last year for a weapons disposal project, I lent him the Shadow and said I hoped he'd be able to return it in person. He came back, as did the Shadow, and my friend let me know that he used it extensively for cutting det cord. Then he apologized for getting a few scratches on the blade.

I'm NOT sending this back to CRK for refurbishing -- no way. I will forever let it remind me that there are people out there who risk their lives so we can all be free in this country. And that I can hold in my hand a little piece of the history of our times.

A Chris Reeve one-piece knife: $180

The opportunity to help a friend serve the cause of peace: priceless

Russ,

That is exactly what I am looking for. Thank you for taking the time and sharing your story.

Please keep them coming.

I might be one of the (appearant) few Ubejane users out there and use mine frequently for gutting and skinning. As in our part of the world (I live in northern Germany) we hunt mostly wild boar, you need a serious knife to go through the rough fur and skin. The knife is working just fine, but there is one problem: Since boar are normally stalked in the dark (either well before sun-up or well after sun-down), the cleaning is also obviously done in the dark. This is where a black knife becomes somewhat of a difficult object to use. I therefore asked CR if they could polish the blade, but since they didn't want to have it exposed to the dangers of rusting away they wouldn't like to do it. I therefore decided to modify it myself: I'll polish the blade and will probably spray paint the screw-on cap in white luminous paint. I'll also have a new leather sheath made to further accomodate a tri-angular spyderco stick to re-sharpen in the field. When everything will be done I'll post a picture if you gentlemen are interested.
PS: Does anybody know what the slightly sharpened upper front side of the blade is for? I can only imagine it to be for pelvis opening, but for that I thing a small bone saw is more adequate. :)
