Had this one on the sharpening bench today and grabbed a snap. I know I got kicked once before... but I like the OPKs.

That's the Ubejane or Skinner..... by far my favorite model

I believe Ubejane means rhino in zulu.

With a blade that wide, that was an impressive size bar (or is it billet?) it started out as.

Is there video out there somewhere of the one piece knives being turned, milled, machined, however they did it?

That's a nice one! I have a sable and a shadow and they are terrific knives.

I would love to see a video showing how they are made as well River!

Yeah I know its is only Tuesday, but wanted to keep you guessing.

This big diesel is an Nkonka spear point. As you can see it came with a tool kit in the hollow handle.

A huge piece of steel in hand.

^^^^ James comes in with the heavy artillery. I am partial to the Sable, but all are awesome.

I need to find a Sable, but it has to be the big honkin' one they made..

:-) I like your Nkonka! In order to have variety within my little group I would probably try to add a Jeroboam which has kinda bowie blade profile.

The guards added to the Nkonka always seemed out of place to me. Would like to hear how they came about versus being milled out of bar stock.

Great pickup Peter. I too like James am wondering the mystery of the second box.

The OPKs are awesome... they were labor intensive to make (as I have been told), and am sure that is the reason you see so few other markers doing a one piece in a hollow handle.
