Hello BF! I am about ready to head to South Korea for a year and I am looking to make one big purchase or maybe two to enjoy while I am gone. I have a limit of $300 or so. I am aware of the knife laws in Korea, but due to my job I can carry a "utility knife" while working :) I have been looking at a Gayle Bradley, zt0560, zt0561, PM2 in m390, BM 710 in m390. My collection does not include any high speed steels yet and I would to add some to my stable. So with that being said what do you members think I should get? Feel free to recommend another knives as well.

Thanks!

Not a recommendation, but I went to South Korea last year. I had a ladybug with me (checked). I remember looking at the form you had to fill out before passing through customs and one check box read something like "guns, explosives, nuclear materials or knives". I did NOT tick that box :D

I'm thinking about selling my Benchmade Bedlam for a few CS knives. Recon 1, counter point 1, and that Texas lonestar or whatever its called, maybe an Izula and a Buck stockman

I would totally go for the 0560. I just got one, and it's unbelievable.. It would pretty much eat up your spend limit though. If I had to get 2 knives for 300 I would get a para2 and a gayle bradley.. or grab up a used 301, and a gayle bradley (you'd have to go over ur limit a bit)..

what about the 0550? I don't have one, but its on my list.

Trail Edge, you may have the wrong thread.:)

To the OP:
I would advise a ZT 0350. It's a great intro to ZT, and it doesn't eat you entire budget in one gulp!

I'd highly recommend the ZT 0560. While they may be a little difficult to find right now, you wouldn't be disappointed if you can get your hands on one. Simply put, this is an awesome folder that, even with its' light weight, is built as solid as a tank.

Hey, whatever floats your boat. I love my CS knife, but selling a benchmade for a CS isnt heard very often.
But it somewhat makes sense. selling one knife and getting 3 is pretty good.

Have you read this thread at all? You are replying to someone who apparently posted in the wrong thread.

I'm going to try to go to my "happy place" now...

I posted in the right thread. My point was to tell him that some of the less expensive knives are still desirable

Thanks so far for the recommendations guys. Do you think the 0550 is worth it or should I spend the extra and pick up the 0560? Is the Elmax that big of a step up from s35vn?

Bought my 0550 for $200, my 0560 for $260........and IMO, it is well worth the extra $$$. ;) I don't think that you would be disappointed. No experience with Elmax but S35VN is pretty good stuff.

I reco the BenchMade 710 or a Para2 in a good steel. The Para2 is likely one of the most popular knives of the year, and for good reason. The BM 710 has been a winner for years.
The Gayle Bradley is a much heavier duty knife, but excellent steel. The ZT knives are also meant for heavy-duty work; not sure what you need. It's a heavier-duty knife than I want/need for a EDC.

I have two Para2's; I have chosen to NOT get the Gayle Bradley or ZT's. I also have several excellent BenchMades and love 'em.
Of course, opinions are varied. Try to hold them before buying.
IMO, the

I would go with the Gayle Bradley! If you don't mind pushing your budget, maybe could pick up a PM2 in M390, too!

If I were in your shoes I'd get the gayle bradely and be done with it. I mean cpm-m4 and carbon fiber on a production knife for that price point makes it an excellent value considering the materials not to mention it's got looks that kill and on top of all it's a Spyderco.

Thanks again for all the recommendations! After watching some video reviews I have decided to order the Gayle Bradley. I had to flip a coin on the PM2 because I have two already, but there is nothing wrong with owning more. It came down to trying something new. Maybe I can eat some ramen noodles for a month and be able to pick up a ZT0560 as well. :D
