OK I got my last Kabar Becker micarta handles and I'm hemming and hawing on what to put them on. And trying to decide what to put them on...

My BK2 or BK 9 or BK 5.

I have two BK 2s one with micata handles already, but the micarta seems to make them an even better heavy use small knife blade is why they seem to be the #1 runner.

BK 9 I already got two BK 9s with micarta handles, the Zytel one might seem to be better for a long term chopper use...

BK 5 I never really found to useful, but to do odd jobs here and there.

My BK 4, wish I got more when I had the money, already got the first set I gots of the micarta handles.

One set of handles, 3 knives... Seemed like it could have been complicated until you said you already have a micarta scales on 2 of the 3 you mentioned. Give them to the 5. (Personally, I put wood scales on my 5 because I've pigeonholed it into food duty)

I like the look and feel of Micarta scales but for extended use periods they are not as comfortable on bare hand skin as the stock Grivory scales are.

That being said, my advice would be to pick the knife that you use for the shortest use sessions and/or the knife that you typically would be wearing gloves when you use it.

As for the BK-5, which I adore, it is one loppin', choppin, slicin', dicin' food prep extraordinaire knife. I keep one in the kitchen and it's my go-to for many tasks there.

Just never really cared for the feel of micarta, but do like how it looks.
