I got out yesterday to do some firecraft, and enjoy the 70 degree temp. It was a nice day. I made a one stick fire with my new Tusker. I like to do that when I get a new blade. It really gets me used to working with the blade. :thumbup:

Light scrapings with metal match, and then the fuzzies and shavings, and then the wood.

Thanks for a bad ass knife Scott. It was a bit differant at first, but I got the hang of a bigger knife very quickly, and I really like it! I was worried about the guard being uncomfy, but I actuallly liked it.

:cool::thumbup:

J great review and show of fire making skills. I can not wait for 70 degree days but that won't be till May if we are lucky.Yes Scott makes some bad ass knives! I have him working on one I call the M.U.S.K. (Mikes ultimate survival knife) I can not wait to pair it with my big boar tusker. Thanks for the pics!

Thanks Bro...:thumbup:

It was weird being out sweating under a pack in a tshirt in Feb....:D

Cant wait to see that MUSK. :thumbup:

Tomorow is supposed to be upper 50s during the day and low 40s at night. Im seriously considering an overnighter. No bugs, and those temps is my idea of wonderfull.

J them are my type of weather. A lot of time in the summer we have those temps.I know it is because I live right in the middle between Lake Superior and Lake Michigan.I would not change anything except a Walmart is a 75 mile drive to get to.

Great job J. I made a one stick fire with my Mo T. The weather is 62 today and going to be near 70 tomorrow. What a tease because it is going back to the 30's next week.
Scott

Thanks Scott.....Yeah, totally a tease. I dont think were out of the woods yet. Still many cold days to come.

great stuff Jake.. that is a bad a$$ looking blade...:thumbup: glad to hear you folks are getting some nicer weather.. we have been getting dumped on by rain for the past few days..:o

Hey J. let me know how you like the guard after you've used it for awhile. I try to basically make it like an extension on the first finger cutout. The upper part of the guard just blends with the handle scales so it really isn't awkward on the knife. Just adds weight. I pin the guards on, no soldering. It slips into a notch at the bottom and has a 3/32" pin in the center. I just don't trust solder on a hard use knife. besides, I suck at soldering. :D

Yeah, I agree. Pinned is the way to go. You are right, I dont notice the guard much, and actually like what I do notice if that makes sense. Ill totally keep ya posted though. :thumbup:
