Hello,
I am searching for a set of full-bellied hunting/survival knives, which would share the same style with exception of being different sizes.
Say: a set of three knives with blade sizes close to 3", 5", 7" or 2.5", 5".5, 7.5".
So these knives work as hunters, survival and even kitchen knives.
The knives need to be made out of a quality steel.
Say: D2, M4, Elmax, or M390, expertly heat treated, with nicely crafted handles.
Preferably handles made out of micarta, or similar quality material, with same styles and materials of fastening hardware, almost same sizes of the hardware and same textures and patterns, but different shades of micarta colors for different sizes of knives.
I would even go with Izulas, Ka-Bars, or say Boker knives with micarta handles, if they would fully match such a requirement, but sadly they don't as far as I know.
I think I would be happy to pay, say: $500 - $700 for such a set, if crafted expertly.
Are there such sets at all available for purchase?

The first thing that popped into my head was the Jerry Hossom-designed line that Spyderco produced a few years ago. They're discontinued now, but you might be able to track down a full set a piece at a time on the second-hand market.

I'm thinking you would be lucky to find ONE custom made in the steels you listed for that price.

The Hossom designed Spyderco's were made in Italy for Spyderco.

From smallest to the largest you are indicating preference for size wise are the Dayhiker, Woodlander and Forager.

They are made of N690CO with sort of a green-gray micarta.

The set will probably run you $1,000.00, as they are discontinued and sought after. They come with Boltaron sheaths. I had the biggest one, the Forester, and it did good work on a 3 day sea kayaking trip on the Cascade Marine Trail in Washington State.....chopping up firewood, food prep and some nylon rope slicing.

Wound up giving it to Flavio Ikoma who loves it. If Flavio likes it, most people like it....he's pretty picky about his knives.

Best Regards,

Interesting input and a story, man! Thank you!
I am a newbie and therefore realize that the prices I listed could be modified, if really decent knives are would be found.

You might could have gotten the whole Hossom/Spyderco set for that price range when they were being made (I'd have to look at prices), but it could be less or more on the secondhand market. For custom, you're pretty definitely going to pay more, though not necessarily a lot more.

Another idea is to take a look at Lion Steel knives......models M2 (3") M3 (4") M5 (4.5" pre order) and M7 (7")....... and D2 steel
