Mornin fellow Spyderknuts :)

Dont much post here these days. Interests in the past cpl years have shifted heavily to the fixed blades, Busse in particular. But never forgot what got me into "sharp things". Still my go to brand if i ever had to rely on just one forever (dont tell the hogs ).

With that being said, the collector of spydercos in me has for the most part left(hoard users instead). Have pretty much owned everything I ever wanted to, rare bugs and such. Now If I buy or own one, 95% of the time, its gonna get use. Heck even carried my WTC for one day last year
However, there was always one that had eluded me. Always loved the looks of it but honestly thought the stock pic and maybe 1 personal pic Ive seen of them was as close as I would ever get. Have searched and searched but never with success, until now. Enough of the yap, here are the pics

First Impressions- WOW, this thing is WAY longer then expected. I have a problem not checking specs and being caught off guard once a knife arrives. Definitely the case with this one but it was a pleasant surprise Ill admit. Also, very light, the handle being much more so then imagined. Hate admitting it but the wood handle actually feels a bit cheap and unfinished, possibly(big one) that its just my ignorance to the design . No complaining, well of course unless its a fake which I highly doubt. Its is screaming sharp, that never hurts. I can imagine it would make a great kitchen knife but do I really need another? Hate letting knives collect dust these days (aint got enuff $ enough to justify it). Eitherway, I have gained a sense of fulfillment now that I can say Ive owned one, cool hard to find bug

Hi Dericdesmond,

Nice find. The handle is traditional and is usually kept damp to hold tight to the tang. The blade was made from a special alloy with tungsten added to the mix. It will get exceptionall sharp. When the first proto came in, a piece of rice paper was included with instructions to place the fold of the paper on the edge at the hilt and blow the paper towards the tip. By the time the paper reached the tip, the paper was cut in half. Amazing.

Sal,

Thanks so much for chiming in and the input on the steel, was actually curious about that.

On the handle, Yep, my ignorance indeed :o She will now be used

Thanks again for all the great work sir

Wow. What a great score. I have been into Spyderco knives longer than I haven't but I have never seen that. Amazing knife made by amazing people!

Awesome!

I wish all knives came that sharp!

Nice find! The KX05 Sashimi is one of the hardest Kitchen Sharps to find. If you never researched it in the old catalogs, I can see where the model number could make one think it was going to be about the same size as the K05 Utility. A friend of mine was kind enough to sell me a few of his spare Kitchen Sharps, including a KX05, a few months back so I'm among those lucky enough to have one. Hope you enjoy using yours as much as I do mine. :) I'm not into raw fish or meat, but I do like my London Broil somewhere between rare and medium rare, and it does an amazing job slicing up one of those.

That's way cool. I have a very well used Spydie kitchen knife, I really need to find another but I'm not sure if they are still made? Mine looks like yours with the red handle but has a longer blade and a black handle.
