Anyone have experience with the One Ton? I want to try one and I want to either try this one or a couple skylines for my 2 youngest to start learning more serious knife safety and use. Input would be appreciated.

I would definitely not recommend it as a knife for a kid. It's way too wide! The half ton would be a better choice imo!

You can compare with my pics:

Wow! Thanks for the comparison. I think you're right. I want one for myself though.

I'm thinking Half Ton or Skylines as well. Skyline for the slimmer profile and ease of carry. Maybe Oso Sweet if they like the handles or OD-1 could be considered as well?

To the OP, I would recommend the Skyline for its smaller profile for their smaller hands. Also from the pic, the Chill, Oso Sweet, OD-1, and Vapor line would also make good choices. Just as a note the Oso Sweet is assisted where the others arent. Lastly I would say you could look at the Nerve and Salvo as well. The Nerve is a very nice knife that I just keep going back to. It and the Salvo are a little bit longer though than others mentioned if memory serves.

Personally out of those I have owned and carried them all at some point. Out of them, the OD-1 has the best action to me but I prefer the blade shapes of the Skyline and Oso Sweet better for EDC. My wife carries a Half Ton and an OD-2 (one in pocket and one in purse) and she loves both for their smaller size.

Cal45, what is the model of the knife in second pic #6 from the left? Does it have a flipper?

Thanks

Get the one ton for yourself and skyline for your kid. They are affordable, you can get both and let them decide.

Cal45, I think your collection needs a little work. It's missing out on a nice strait edge.

That's a Clash 1605CKT. It has assisted opening. An amazing knife for 30-40$!

I have a Needs Work G10 (only 300 made from what I saw here) on the way :D

For sure. Skyline would be 100% better suited for a kid. The One Ton is wayyy too wide. (But get it for yourself, its awesome ;))

I bought a One Ton last weekend at a local gunshow. Got it home and realized it wasn't for me. It was just too fat for my hand. I took it back the next day and traded it for something else.

I love my Half Ton, however.

Thanks for the input! I will have 2 skylines on the way from a very generous forumite on payday. My Youngest son and daughter will be extremely happy. As to the One Ton, it is on the list of wants.
