I have been doing some serious thinking over the last few days and my conclusions are not easy to accept .

For years now I have carried a Leatherman Surge on my belt at work 5 - 6 days a week . It does everything asked of it without complaint or problems , it is for me the " one tool to rule them all " .
For the last few months as well as the Surge I've carried a couple of other knives .
Why ?
The only reason I'm carrying the others is to justify their purchase to myself and more importantly my wife :)
I hate admitting it but the Surge will do it all and the others are just a big fat waste of money .
I get sucked into dreamy thoughts of must have knives and before I know it I've bought one .

I'm not going to sell the rest , even though I should but admitting this has been an enlightening experience .
From now on Surge for work , and on weekends maybe a Skeletool or a Seb 21 or a Traditional Slipjoint or a Wave or a SAK or a ...................

I went through a Surge phase once. My wife hefted it once and looked at me in wonder. "You actually carry this thing?" she said, keeping her opinion that I was a loon to herself (and I love her for it :) .) But I was confident I could deal with the extra 2.5 oz. After all, a Super Tool had been my near constant companion for 9 years with no problem. I was wrong. It's remarkable the difference a trivial amount of weight can make if you carry it on your person all day long. I was getting nagging pains in my right hip where I carried the sheath. Finally, I gave up and went back to the more manageable Leathermans.

Men with fortitude and the strength of two separate oxen, I salute you. But I am not among your number. :(
