One year on the HI Forum

So, how are you different because of it? If at all. Just curious.

Here's a very short list of some of the ways, there are more but I'm getting ready for work and don't have much time this morning:

1. I've had my confidence in human character reaffirmed on a daily basis.
2. I no longer consider myself to be an isolated minority because of my values.
3. I've made a few new friends. ("friend" is not a title I bestow lightly)
4. The monthly balance in my gig money account is a lot less than what it used to be.
5. I know there's a place I can go where I can get expert advice on darn near any topic imaginable from people who share their knowledge and experiences because they like to share, not because they want to impress the world with their intellect.
6. I know there's a place I can go where I can state my personal opinion on any topic and be treated with respect by those who differ with me.
 
Raghorn, thanks a bunch for sharing that. I've been here for considerably less time than you, but will second almost all of your points. As well as another one. I was pretty much raised (or raised myself) to believe that love and respect for our country (read "patriotism") was a thing of the past, or only espoused by politicians, for their own ends. I'm very glad that I was mistaken.

Congrats on the first of many good years to come Mike. There are those who bring to the banquet table, and those who take from it. From what I've seen, you've always brought more than you've taken.

Jim, she must be a lookalike because thus far Nicole has refused to return any of my phone calls. I'll give you a call after she gets here and we can discuss terms. ;)

Bruise, gig money = incidental income that is not part of the family budget. Most of it comes from playing live music. We use it to buy things other than food, mortgage payments and medical bills.

I forgot to mention that the Queen Of My Castle might have a thing or two to say about this as well. So make sure they know how to do housework. :p :D
