Online Knife Database Collaboration

EDIT: 260 views, almost no interest, thought this could have been fun

As much fun as it is to come here and ask for knife suggestions, wouldn't it be great to be able to search a comprehensive database using numerous criteria? While I'm fairly busy at the moment on other projects I could probably make a little time to set up an online database but clearly would not be able to populate it with information. So what I am thinking is it could be a collaborative effort where people are allowed to enter in the specs. for the blades that they have. Initially to get the project started I think I can afford to cover the costs but as storage demands increase and network bandwidth grows I may need to seek some donations to help cover the costs. Any interest or thoughts?

Off the top of my head the following fields are obvious:

Blade length
Overall length
Blade thickness
Blade width
Primary grind
Blade shape
Weight
Handle material
Manufacturer/maker
Purpose
Lock type
Sheath Type
Price range
Availability
Picture

Any other specs you might like to see?

There's always clip positioning.

A couple pieces of information that I like to consider when buying a knife but aren't typically found - handle thickness and amount of handle showing when clipped.

Clip position can be expressed as the distance between the tip of the handle to the pocket line. SOG Flash would have 0" or even -1/16" of pocket clip offset.

The other information that's often a deal breaker for people buying folders is pocket clip placement, whether it's right hand tip up, right hand tip down, left hand tip up, left hand tip down, or some combination of them. Just as important is whether the clip is removable, whether it's included (some leatherman multitools have pocket clips, but they're extra), and whether it has a pocket clip to begin with (victorinox 111mm don't have clips).

Factory edge angle.

In theory this would be great information. But I see a couple of problems. One is that the factory edge often varies quite a bit and the second is how to measure it accurately.

Good ideas

this is a good idea.

I thought so but judging from the tepid response so far I'm not sure many others do. If there isn't much interest I may do it anyway but in an off the radar fashion ;)
