Online knife sharpening tutorials

Hi All:

Does anyone know of a good knife sharpening tutorial online? Looking to start maintaining my knives and don't want to damage the blades. I can imagine really screwing up my Al Mar pack rat or Spyderco Street Beat. That would really be sad.

Buy a sharpmaker, it comes with a dvd and has angle guides so its almost impossible to screw up.

What 3wolves said. If your knives are sharp, keep them sharp. Just a few light swipes on the Sharpmaker between uses will keep your edge at its highest cutting performance and that will diminish edge damage. A sharp edge is hard to damage while a dull edge leads to damage, and then sharpening will be a chore.

I agree with advice to buy sharpmaker, I am using it for more than two years.
Great tool.
Still, IMHO not a bad idea to understand what are you doing. this is a good start. Helped me, also read this forum
