I'm actually looking for a very specific manual; the 1939 Cavalry manual from th US Army. I believe it to be the last that actually addresses the horse, which gave way to the Tank, as you can imagine. Thanks!

I was in the First Cavalry Division [ dismounted ] during the Korean war . The last of out bona-fide horse soldiers were a group in the Phillipines that had to kill & eat their mounts to keep from starving before Battan fell. They ended up as regular infantry.

Uncle Alan

PS Stars & Stripes achives were recently assembled & are being retro-catalogued for viewing. This is of great interest to some of we older vets.

Uncle Alan, I just want to say thank you for paving the way for the rest of us Cav soldiers. I was in First Cavalry for OIF and OEF. Spent 4 years there in 1/5 scout platoon. As my CSM used to say,"If you ain't Cav, you ain't SHIT!"
