My wife inherited a small winterscape painting. It is signed larsen 1917.

Are there any resources to find out information on the artist?

Is there any way to get a pic of the painting in question?

Johannes Larsen (1867-1961) is a Danish painter of of landscapes and waterfoul. Another painter by the name of Hugo Larsen (1875-1950) is another Danish painter but he did alot of paintings of the Dutch West Indies and of muses. I would have to see a pic to know for sure who painted it.

Thanks Guys,

The signature is hard to make out the the Initials. The Larsen part is easy to see. I'll post a picture of it today.

It would be nice if it were of some value. My luck it will be crapola.

Why don't you bring it over to an art appraiser. They are usually located in large art gallaries. They can tell you on the spot what it is worth and how to go about selling it, if thats what you want.
