Well I have done 7 days straight with my BK2 as my only knife. That means I use it to cook, teach my son, any outdoor activities, cutting of boxes,....seriously anything. It even got to go on a nice all day hike where the kids wanted walking sticks, a little fire, you know the whole kit-and-kaboodle. I decided to do this in conjunction with when I had re-shaped (only smoothed really) and polished my blade. I have to admit that I love the look of the natural patina and how it looks like it has gotten some real love and use. This blade has got some character now.

Here's how it looked after I gave the blade a good scrubbing and cleaning after making some home fries this AM:

Thanks Gizler. I love the wild look of the patina. Use really does make these knives look better.

Yes'sir. It works for everything. A thinner blade would obviously make a better slicer (especially for food prep), but it still does the job well. It chops like a beast!

Now that looks good! You really get a feel for what it can do after using it exclusively, don't you? Nothing can familiarize someone with their knife like being forced to use it for everything. And that is never a bad thing. Good on you for sticking to your guns use-wise and I gotta say, really digging how that thing is looking.

Great idea. I may just follow your lead with my 16 starting as soon as I get home...

ironborn,
You bet! Thanks.

DerekH,
Thank you for the kind words. You are absolutely correct, nothing will familiarize you better with a knife than forcing yourself to use only that item. I feel like I'm only scraping the surface of what this knife can do.

arskrg,
Thanks. I highly recommend you do. Please post pics up.

Man that beast looks great, very nice patina happening. I use my 2 mainly for yard work ( who needs a chainsaw when you have a BK2? :D) but it would be interesting to have to use it for everything I need a knife for. If I did that then I would first strip what's left of the coating so it slices a bit smoother.

Nathan,
Thank you sir. There is seriously nothing it can't do. I would highly recommend stripping the rest of the coating and just lightly polishing the blade so it slices easier. I found that I prefer the BK2 without the coating since it seems to have less drag going through wood, food, etc.

Awesome dude!!! Look forward to seeing it.

That is looking good. I have been using mine in the kitchen to get a better patina going.

That's what did the most damage by far with mine. Potatoes caused the deepest patina out of anything I used.
