Only one...Carry

OK, not to trump dd1967's "Only One..." topic but what about this hypothetical question:

Money and availabilty be damned. Which custom or production Emerson knife would you choose to carry every day for the rest of your life?

Oh, I almost forgot. My choice would be the Emerson Logo Proto Tanto.

Good alternative thought for a discussion. I will forgive you for crediting my original to dd1967!!

If I could only have one Emerson to carry, it would be a CQC6 single bevel, half moon logo (or Sterile) with black micata scales and a Black-t coating on the blade, bolsters etc.

I was thinking of ordering one like this and then Ernie goes and gives up making customs.

If anybody has one that they can live without - you have my details.

My Prototype CQC-8 with the wave.

If it wasn't the only one I had I'd be carrying it now.

I can hear it calling out to me all the time......."Use me, use me....cut with me...CUT WITH ME!!!!"

ROSANGHAL,

I understand my Ti CQC6 has the same message for me - I don't know how long I can hold out.

Nobody voting for a Viper 3? Big like an ES1-M, pointy like a 6, better ergonomics than either, rarer than both, and you can peel an apple with it if you wanted to.

I'm also surprised that no one likes "the world's best selling knife", the CQC7?

jbravo, I like the way you think! I LOVE my custom CQC-7 and have wanted a Viper 3 for years.
BTW there is another well known custom maker who makes (well, he used to) an almost exact copy of the Viper 3 (a little smaller) with all the same details.

Edmoses

When I had the Ti CQC6 it was doing the same thing!

Having all of them calling out in unison is mind bending. That's the real reason I got rid of some of mine

If you do give in to the call, let us know how it slices and dices.

Thanks

Edmoses,
My apology for erroneously crediting the "Only One" topic to DD1967. BTW excellent choice!

I love my Viper 3. It is a close second place to my Proto. It is a great knife for all the reasons stated by jbravo but the Proto Tanto design has what I believe are two advantages over the 3.

1. The entire knife is black. Liners, screws, everything. Why is this an advantage? Uhh... It looks cool.

2. It has a pronounced finger groove which acts as a guard to prevent accidental finger slippage onto the live blade.

Will either ever see use? Lordy no. But this is THE Emerson delemma then isn't it? We all strive to make the acquisition then we hoard them in cases and safes. Judging by the way I handle them you would think that they were made of glass!

Well, my choice would be a CQC6.

The only change being either a Titanium blade or maybe even a damascus. They have to be Tanto points though !

With all the talk about the SARK, and how cool it would be if it had a point, I am surprised that no one ever talks about the CQC9. As rugged a hawkbill as I have ever seen, small for easy, comfortable carry, and all business.
