Alright you hogs. I'm learning a lot from ya'll and I hope you can keep it coming!

Here's the scenario:

You're in the field, your using your knives :D , and mother nature decides to open up and soak you to the bones...

What handle material do you hope you've got on your INFI, SR-77, etc? We're looking for the most "grippyness" here, 'cuz we want to keep cuttin' stuff right???

Micarta? G-10? Resiprene-C?

Odd question... i figured on something involving a white t-shirt and a females frollicing thru a tulip field

I was expecting Spring Break pics... :p

Canvas micarta for me, please, even though Respirene-C would have more grip. I like the durability of the micarta, and the canvas micarta has the most texture to me. Better than G-10 in terms of grip IMO.

The only handle type that I have is linen micarta, and it seems to be a bit slippery when wet....

Would G-10 or canvas micarta be better?

Does anyone know?

It's secret ingredient is that it's made from nip.... Maybe you could find a way to rough up the handle for better traction? Or use skateboarding tape. I prefer canvas too

While using my g10 handled cgfbm to deal with a violent plastic drum yesterday, I found the handle got a little slippery with sweat. Going to do a test with the dog father tonight to see how it fares! No micarta mistresses to do a straight comparison with right now though.

This is how I got to Know Jerry Busse....

The AfterShock Bolo's came with Paper Micarta, Black and shinny...
So I just got it and I'm outside chopping up stuff, it starts to rain, handle gets slippery so I posted the same question you just did.
Jerry calls me and says, "Send it in, I'll trade it out for Canvas."
I said, "Tan Canvas?"
He said "Sure, and I'll send the old Paper ones back with it in case you ever decide to switch them back."

I've be a fan every since...

I still have that Bolo too... and have probably owned close to 200 or more Busse's since that day...

Hope this answered your question.

Now I want canvas micarta!

Can one even get a Busse with canvas anymore? I always seem to run across linen only...

Do you guys know anything about when these types handles were produced and if they are still being produced by Jerry?

I sure hope he will... :(

Paper, linen then Canvas...
They are all still avaliable...just depends on the knife.

I have been growing fonder of the G10 and the multi-color handles lately.
I still miss the smooth handles though.

I want a SHIa with smooth handles...

Thanks 1whobuys!!

I sure wish I could be so lucky. I wouldn't even think about bothering Jerry to do that for me... I mean, I'm one to believe that someone who is willing to drop hundreds of dollars on a knife should have thoroughly researched every aspect of it before the purchase. Plus, I'm sure that this would mean that I wouldn't see my knife for quite awhile, especially since the shop has been so busy lately.

I'm not a rich fellow, and I did loads of research before buying my first Busse. She's a FFBM, green linen micarta handles. She's beautiful, and I want her to have SteelHeart, NatOut, and BATAC babies soon. What I didn't expect was that these handles would be as slippery as they are... and this is important to me because I use my knives. All of them.

Call the shop in the evening... Chances are you'll get to chat with Jerry and he'll sound like an old friend.

LOL! I did the same thing as Chuck and immediately after receiving my Aftershock I also sent it in for a black Canvas treatment!:D

Canvas is the best stuff and as Nick mentioned, Canvas with the Raptor scale pattern provides an awesome grip.
