I have a chance to buy a Ontario Rat RTAK with 5160 steel blade for a reasonable price $75.00. I've read some bad reviews of the Ontario Rat RTAK with 1095 steel. I'm just wondering if I should pull the trigger on this deal or pass. I'm new to this site and I don't have any experience with 5160 steel.

It seems like a good deal. I've used my Spec Plus series ( SP48,49 & 51 - all 5160) quite a lot and have had no issues with regarding chipping, rolling of edges, etc.
5160 is a high carbon spring steel , and Dan Maragni's overview of the heat treat etc. is outstanding. He overlooks Ontario's processing of it into knives as far as I know, and is very knowledgeable of it.
Id get it for sure at $75 if I had a chance. The newer 1095's are probably alright as well . but from what I've read in the past the older ones had some heat treat issues.
