Ontario 7500 Blackbird pricing and alternatives?

I have been looking at the reviews of the Ontario 7500 Blackbird and I like what I see. Something I can sit in front of the fire with and carve on a stick, or cut some food, and other general tasks. I would also do very light baton, just for kindling. I am really attracted to the stainless steel 154cm as many says it performs near identical to VG10.

My questions....

1. I have a VG 10 and S30V blade. Is the corrosion resistance as high? I don't want anything like Aus8, had it and it rusted(was my food prep knife at the time).

2. Is 120$ worth it compared to other knives? I see some VG 10 blades for 80$ with plastic(like) sheath.

Not asking anyone to post links or anything, just don't know much about it.

It seems a good knife if you want 154CM and a micarta handle

Some alternatives in the TOPS range
Tops are regarded on the expensive site compared to essee.
Still their fit and finish is very good
I have two (discontinued) tops: the bushranger and the B&TK both Greco designs.
Maybe some stainless models are worth considering?

Thanks for the reply. Looking at some of the options you presented, and some I found in my research, I went ahead and ordered it. Here in a few months I will report my results. Every review I saw was very positive, so I will see.

The blackbird is a bit overseen with all the talk about the essee knives.
But if you want 154CM instead of 1095 it's a good choice.
