Hi SW. I have Seal 2000 That I got when they first came out in the late 90s. It has sat in a a drawer for at least the last 5 or 6 years. It's a cool knife and all, but I've found it isn't the greatest 'camp' knife. The sabre-type grind doesn't make it the best for food prep, it doesn't weigh enough to be a decent chopper, and the serrations I haven't needed and get in the way of whittling. It's a decent 'fighter' blade, but the handle design isn't the most secure for that sort of thing (lack of a guard).
But again, it is a cool knife. I still have mine, and plan on keeping it. When I got it, it replaced my Buck 188 (M9). After a year or so, I got a Becker Knife & Tool Tac Tool and a Companion. After a few trips with those, I reprofiled the Tac Tool's long edge, and subbed the Companion with something smaller and thinner. And so on, and so on... I recently acquired a Becker BK7 (which is 0170-6, not 1095), and look forward to giving that one a whirl on a few trips in Sept.
Have fun with your new knife! But now that you've spent some decent bank on a blade, the next $80 knife will be easier to get, followed by a $60 knife, and then a $40 and $55 knives on the same order... It can be an addiction.
