Just wanted to post a picture of the new steel that arrived today. In the middle is an Ontario Blackwind Bengal Sword. The blade is 1095 High Carbon Steel. The blade is tempered to 57-58 RC blade hardness, and is 26" overall with a 16" blade edge. Seems like a pretty cool design. Not a fan of the handle at all so I will likely try to get that changed. I have a couple of the Blackwind Katanas and they seem very well made but I'd like to change one of the handles as well. Anyway, heres a pic:

If that had scales on it and not so much of a hook to the pommel (you could catch fish with that thing!) it would be perfect.

I agree completely. Gonna try to get rid of pommel hook and the forward guards and maybe put some nice G10 on her.

I agree the cord wrap is a bit less than stellar; I would keep the forward guards myself but that's just my opinion.

Nice score . Have fun slapping some scales on her.

I would keep the edge-side guard personally. If you'll remove them I'd just do the spine-side one.
