What's the general consensus for knives made by Ontario Knives? There's a folder that I'm eyeing with n690co steel that is made in Italy. I'm hazarding a guess that it's actually Fox Cutlery that makes the knife. Anyway, before I pull the trigger I wanted to get some opinions about the company. What caught my eye about this folder, the XM-1, is that it's thick handled. I like a meaty grip. Handle thickness is .82 inches. Blade thickness is .19.

Pretty sure it is made by Fox. I haven't heard anything bad about. That is a pretty thick handle! Should be a good knife.

They have a slim version with the only difference being a .52 inch handle from what I recall.

I may just pull the trigger on this guy, the fat one.

I only have three Ontario knives -- a RAT 1 (made in Taiwan) and two fixed blades from their Spec Plus line (made in the U.S.) -- and all have been very well-built and excellent values for the money. If the quality of their Italian-made knives is anything like those, you should be in good shape. (As you said, it's likely Fox is making the knife for Ontario.)

I think I'm getting it. It just seems like overkill. .82...but I like thick handles because they fit well in my hand. .19 inch thick blade is fat too, but it comes sharp as heck based on the video I've seen. Dual ti liners too.

A.G. Russell is selling the knife and A.G. has had a relationship with Fox for quite awhile. So the Fox authorship seems reasonable to me, too.
