Ontario M7 with curved blades? fake?

I have seen a surge in Ontario M7 bayonets for sale that clearly have a blade that is slightly curved. This lack of straightness is clearly a defect and was not intentional. Many of these Bayonets are being sold as new military surplus with military cage codes and numbers on the clear packaging. I recently got to handle one of these but this came in a box maked m16 made in china. The scabbard appeared to be an authentic M10 and the Bayonet itself marked Ontario M7 in the proper location. The blade was curved badly and the guard was mounted crooked. Everything else looked authentic. Are there a large number of fake Ontario M7s on the market? How can we tell authentic Ontario M7s?

I guess not too many people are into Ontario Bayonets. What is troubling to me is that I am well versed in both gun and knife knowledge yet these Bayonets being sold if not authentic would be very difficult to detect. It's possible they are authentic and were sold or surplussed off as seconds. I can't explain the one example I saw that had a made in china box as most I've seen on a very popular auction site appear to be in Ontario military contract packaging.

It's hard to say whether something is authentic without seeing it. I haven't seen a lot of fake M7s, and it's admittedly possible that we had a run with some quality issues. That said, the knife is definitely not made in China, of course, so that one is a huge red flag.
