This would probably qualify as tinkering and embellishment... Walnut handle, removed blade coating, leather bits.
An amateurs first attempt practicing leather stitching and woodworking.
Basic pieces from the hardware store... brass screws. epoxy, wood. That's why one "pin" looks screwy.
Lots of rasping, filing and sanding.
Linseed oil finish.
Blade filed similar as in Colhane's youtube videos. Convex, scandi, squared fire striker/shaver, rounded top edges.

The wood is a nice upgrade from the plastic, which being hollow could only be sanded/shaped so much.
Excuse my ignorance... I don't know what to call the section of the handle at the lower rear, the part that hangs down for a finger to rest against. A finger rest?
Anyway, being able to have that custom shaped feels good while swinging.

Coating was removed using a 5" angle grinder with sanding disc. Only took a few minutes.
Much of it was already off from use.

Fun rainy day project. It looks good from far and far from good, but it works.
It's used mostly as a campfire knife these days.
