I recently picked up an Ontario Ranger RBS 9. While the knife is excellent, the overall handle shape did not fit my medium sized hands well and was very uncomfortable. I've never really modded a knife before, but I figured since it only costs $60 I would give it a shot. I bought a $14 angle grinder from Harbor Freight and went to town! The handles are now much more comfortable for me, although overall it's much uglier than before. I grinded the annoying humps down and tried to sand the corners down as much as possible.

Looks GREAT to me. I bought a Dremel tool. Excellent for knife mods. Get you a full sized Becker knife & try to make handles on the RD9 match the Beckers. VERY comfy & ergonomic. MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A N95 mask or better when sanding micarta. The glue/epoxy/resin that holds it together can be VERY NASTY to your lungs---seriously, wear an N95 or better mask.
You can pick up a small pack of disposable ones for around $25 or less. Your lungs will thank you. :D

Thanks for the compliments. They are definitely more comfortable thank stock, but still not nearly as comfortable as Beckers.......so I broke down and ordered a BK9 tonight. Can't wait to compare the performance of the two.
