so i was surprised today when a Rat 1 showed up at my door. i dont remember ordering it. opened the box and my dad had bought it for me as a gift and it was late. im curious and would like to pose a question to fellow rat owners. what kind of geometry are you using? stock? narrower than stock angles? i was looking at this blade and i feel it would look dead sexy as a convex blade. any thoughts or takers? im about to leave or else i would devote my night to trying all kinds of things and posting pics but ill be sure to do that in the days to come. hope everybody has a happy new year!

I've left my Rat 1 and Rat 2 'as is' for the most part and love them both.

Sidney, eh? My wife and her whole family are from Minster :)

Yessir Sidney. About to take a job in Minster coincidentally lol. Once I got home with another christmas gift I got to really look at the Rat and I must say the factory edge is pretty rock solid and pretty sharp. May touch it up with a strop

I bought my coworkers Rat 2's for Christmas and they were sharp enough one of them shaved with it.

Having owned two RAT1's, when they have needed it, Ive put them through the Sharpmaker, but after watching Virtuovice put one through the stones, I did one too, turned out fantastic, like most on Japanese water stones. After the stones it goes to a strop with BRKT white compound.

Stock when it comes to RAT 1, but thinned out the RAT 2 since I use it for more delicate tasks.

No Gunmen, I can't. Basically it's illegal to carry any knife of any size whatsoever in Sweden if you can't prove you need for work or are on your way to hunt, fish hike, camping or similar activities. So all firefighters, police, military, carpenters, plumbers or any other proffesions that uses knives in there line of work are home free. And to that you can add that there is an extremely large portion of the population here that is hunters and/or fishermen. But and there is a big but, no one cares if you don't show a big knife in public. The police never stops you unless you actually threaten somenone with a knife or done something stupid like taken it to a bar/club or similar. That's why I always carry more than one knife. Often a very small one that I can use discretely at public places and a bigger if needed. And no knife whatsoever if I'm going out for a beer! :)

So the answer is yes and no I guess. :) It's not allowed but many does it and I have been carrying knives my hole life. I might add that before this law there was basically none. It's roughly called the law against "knives and other dangerous objects" which includes pens and pencils if your threaten sto stab somenone with it. So the police couldn't take your knife even if your were aggressive which they can nowadays.

That's very interesting, it's nice to hear that you don't need to carry a knife where you're from for self-defense. Just your good old fists will work!

So here's the low down. I threw it in my cheap guided system to just work it over not realizing with the ffg the blade would wobble. Huge oversight. Boogered the bevel pretty good. Threw that away and went the sandpaper mouse pad method and got a nice polished convex now and boy does it shave. I'm thoroughly excited to have this knife for my edc. I absolutely love it and would recommend it to anyone
