Ontario Rat 1 Folder Confusion

From what little I have gathered I get the feeling that this is a point of contention regarding Rat and Ontario, but I have no idea what the situation is. I'm looking to buy an Ontario Rat 1 folder but I can't find any mention of them on either Rat or Ontario's website. What is the deal? Is the knife backed by Rat's lifetime warranty? Or would I go through Ontario? Is the knife out of production?

It is NOT backed by Rat Cutlery's warranty. Only Rat Cutlery products are. For that, you need to contact Ontario.

It is not a point of contention. It is one of the RAT knives made when RAT and Ontario were collaborating. Now they are not. RAT Cutlery has its own line of fixed blades and has plans for a folder, but the Rat 1 is strictly an Ontario product, whether or not they are still making it, and RAT Cutlery and the RAT guys have nothing to do with it.

Yes, it is only covered by Ontario not RC. I would still suggest buying one. They are awesome folders for the cheap price they're sporting.

It's an Ontario product - covered by Ontario warranty.
It's also out of production, so if you want one, get it soon.
They are excellent folders, but the black blade coating is weak - mine chipped and peeled almost out of the box.
