Hello Fellow Knife Lovers! I'm thinking of buying the much praised Ontario Rat 1 folder. I know thousands of you guys have them. My question is: Are there 2 seperate models, one with dual ''teraced'' thumbstuds and one with a single reversable torx screw barrel shaped stud? Got any opinions on both? Thanks:thumbup:

The dual seemed to have a slightly lower profile than I'd prefer, requiring some hand strength to open. Don't have experience with nor was I aware of the reversible one.

The Rat 1 is an excellent folder for the money well built great blade holds a good edge and snaps open with authority. Check out some online stores to see if anyone has some in stock it seems people are buying and hoarding them. Cutlery Shoppe has them for around 25 dollars but I would email them first to make sure they have the one you want in stock. You would be hard pressed to find a better folder for the money.

I think the single-stud RAT 1 is an earlier production run, but I could be wrong on that. Mine had the dual thumb-studs. Great knife! Nice detent; the blade really flies open under a little thumb pressure. Whichever version you end up with, I'm sure you'll enjoy it...

I believe you're correct

Thanks Dudes, I've been reading everything i can find on the blade. My closest knife shop is selling them for $33 canadian. I'm thinking the website for this shop is outdated, only the first couple production runs have the single reversable stud and these blades have been around for ages. I'm pullin the trigger on one of these babies for an EDC. Thanks again fellow Steel Fanatics!
