Ontario #8847, RAT Folder - Black - Partial Serration.

Just got one yesterday. It's OK, but I will most likely not get another one. Handle is slippery and knife is made in Taiwan. I like Taiwan (have many others from Taiwan), but I mostly collect US and selected European knives. Nothing really bad or really good about it. Just a folding knife.

I have an Ontario #8607, RAT-7, D2 Tool Steel - Serrated Edge and I like this knife. The best mass produced fixed knife on the market for the money, since Becker Knives (BK&T) is not in production.

My next knife will be the neat looking new in 2008, Ontario #8629, RTAK-II Serrated. http://www.ontariorat.com/rtak.htm

That's the reason we have discontinued the folder. It's the only design we have that is not made in the USA.

I love RAT/RAT Cutlery blades and that is the only reason I never picked up a RAT1, not a USA product....

I have one on the way to me in the mail right now. Its the only RAT model that I don't have, so I figured, what the hey! I got my Rail Splitter the other week, and really like that. I figured I'd pick up the ones that I haven't acquired yet while waiting for the RC4 and RC6!

I found it to be a well thought out design in general. I can understand why some think the handle is slick but I don't have a problem with it. Ambidextrous studs seem to be standard and it doesn't have it which seems odd to me. Only complaint is that mine developed vertical bladeplay from minor chopping. This is really not a quality issue but a design issued. Where the back of the blade meets the cross pin is coated. Once that coating is gone (from chopping in my case) vertical bladeplay develops.
