i live in Canada and I've been looking everywhere for a Rat1 and I cant find a decent price. the best I found is 50$ including shipping and tax. Is this knife worth 50$? other sites where it costs a more appropriate 30$ wont ship to my :/ Help!
thanks guys

I bought mine for $28 but with international shipping (tracking and insurance) it is another $30. Is it worth it? Yeah, I think you will like it. The RAT1 is one of my sharpest and toughest folder.

I have medium hands and I find the handle to be a bit wonky-too small I think. Locking action is fantastic, F&F is great, blade design superb and the AUS8 is a great performer. For 50, I'd say you'd get your money's worth assuming your hands fit.

It's one of the best $30 knives here in the USA IMHO and adding in another $20 wouldn't alter that fact. I have large hands and it fits my hands just fine and in act, feels good in hand. The thumb ramp is well thought out, The F&F on mine is oustanding and lockup is better than several $200 to $400+ knives I've had until I had them fixed.

I'm big on the RAT 1 folder.

There's a member of a certain auction site selling black partially serrated rat-1's for 35$ including shipping to Canada.

There you go, that shaves 15$ off the price right there!

EDIT: Check your visitor messages.

I've paid a lot more than $50 for knives I like a lot less than the RAT-1. Buy two!

If I were you I would look at other knives around 50 dollars, if you think the RAT 1 is for you, over anything else at that price point, then go for it! I personally don't own one yet, but I have heard many good things about it, so yeah I guess its worth $50 if its the knife for you.

Consider that they cost $60 when they were first introduced. I know, I bought one. Imagine how I feel now that they can be had for half that price:grumpy: It's a heck of a solid knife though, and I would still consider your $50 expense acceptable.

Ditto all of that. I have fairly large hands, but large palms. Fits great. I have used mine in my construction work for a couple of years now. The scales are pretty smooth these days, the blade pretty scratched up, but surprisingly it still locks up good and tight. I will buy another if I ever kill this one.

Although I have had to reprofile the edge a couple of times due to near abuse, it hasn't seen any other maintenance outside of a drop of oil here and there on the pivot.

Knowing what I know now, yes, I would pay $50 for it.

Apparently they changed the handle design since I purchased mine. The ones in that photo are somewhat different than mine and definitely look more comfy. Now my only gripe is the crazy ricasso...

Echo hear, great knife and well worth the $50. I like the blade, the steal sharpens up nice for me and the size is good... I really like the handle, it feels great in my large hand (seriously awesome handle). The fit and finish is great. I gotta say it is one of the few knifes I like 100%. I would say, while different in design and steel, it is on par with a FFG Spyderco Endura... I am a Spyderco fanboy with at least 12-15 Spydies... I would call it the poor man's para miltary (I have a Millie and a Para 2 and very much like both).

so i bought one for 35$! thanks to Dorito Monk, judging from everyones feedback i think i will be very happy with it. thanks guys
