Hey there, just wondering if anyone is in the know....

I purchased a Black on Black Ontario Rat 2 when they first came out. I didn't give it alot of thought, kinda went into my collection and just sat there. I've been carrying it alot more recently and I realize how much I really love this inexpensive little knife. So of course, the desire to get another (or more :D ) has kicked in.

There were some OD and Coyote Brown variants when they first came out. Where those L.E.? Everyone seems to be out of them? Anyone know if those will ever come back?

Thanks for the time and the look....

I have a Rat 1 in FDE, I don't believe it was a LE, I bought it from a dealer in AZ off Amazon, cost about $10 more than the regular models. I know they have made models in OD and also desert tan (lighter than FDE) at least in the Rat 1, I assume that they did this for the Rat 2 also. Bear in mind though, the 2 came out more recently than the 1 so there may not be as many models out yet.

I believe both BladeHQ and Knifeworks had special colors that are exclusive to them.

Right now they have various models of the 1 in black, OD, FDE, tan, and pink. The 2 is only available in black or pink right now. You know you want pink, tough guy.

LOL Pink?? That is awesome. Maybe have to pick one up for the wife. The RAT is such a versatile knife.

I just gave a Rat 2 to my wife and she loves it. Immediately went into her pocket. Now, my daughter is trying to make a case for one too, but I think we are going to get her something else with a tad smaller blade, possibly a Squeak.

Yea there is a pink 1 and 2, its like full on Pepto pink too!

Yeah, you weren't kidding! Wow. Just looked up pics, and you hit it on the head: Pepto Bismol pink! That should be the color's name LOL

I have multiples, both RAT 1 and 2. My wife's current favorite though, a Cryo 1. I'd offered her a Rat 2, but I think she liked the blade shape of the Cryo better. Then I got a Cryo 2 and so we have a matched set, so to speak.

That said, I think a Squeak would make a great knife for a young lady, if you ask me. That particular Spydie also comes in pink, doesn't it?

Indeed it does Quiet, one night while browsing BladeHQ and KNifeworks my daughter was sitting beside me and said, "Wait! What is that pink one there?" Sure enough it was a Squeak. :) I may get her some carving blocks to practice on, I can cut a single block into 2 pieces and have her practice whittling a spoon or something else. It would give me a chance to teach safety while she makes something with her hands and use her creativity. She is bummed the Rat 2 went to her mom though.

For what it's worth, you sound like a great father, Rev.

She definitely sounds like she's receiving a good upbringing. You say she is bummed, I bet she gets that Squeak in her hand, she won't be bummed anymore!

On another note, I have fifteen posts before the big one triple-oh. I need to find out how to do a Giveaway, as this thread gives me a good idea. Do we have any how-to threads on that?

I believe the Delica does (or has) come in pink also, I'll check the 2014 catalog.

EDIT: I checked the catalog, the Delica comes in purple as a regular production model. The Squeak comes in pink, as does a Native 5 (which is over $100 but is a really nice knife) in plain edge.
