Anyone know of an Ontario Rat Alternative don't really much care about steel type , something that can sharpen easy and hold a decent edge. Two reasons I want to find a cheap knife.... Don't want to spend more than $35 and yes I've looked at the tenacious but I feel like I'd baby it as well xD

1.) Just got a Spyderco Sage which I will baby until I get a sharpener and a cheaper blade to practice sharpening with so I don't Steve Harvey my bevel.

2.) If I can find something like an Ontario Rat 2 It will probably be my beater for work that I won't have to worry about if it accidentally comes in contact with another metal or I'm cutting zip ties and plastics all day.

Ontario Rat 2 is a bargain I just don't know if I'm sold on the looks, I guess it's about practicality not sexuality lmao xD

RealSteel H6 S1 for a little smaller than a RAT1, bigger than a RAT2
RealSteel H6 (several flavors) for a little bigger than a RAT 1

Byrd Cara cara2
Esee Avispa/Zancudo
Ka-bar dozier
Kershaw Link/ cryo/ chill/ thermite

Hope that helps man, and you can consider the tenacious, I used to baby it too, but after two month, I realized that life is too short to baby budget production blades!

Kershaw OSO Sweet. Or any Kershaw really. The steels are easy to manage, and there's tons of designs. Although the a tenacious is a great knife and you can abuse it. The 8cr13mov is very simple to maintain. You do not have to baby it. If you were unfamiliar with higher quality steels like s30v,s35v, s110v, Elmax, d2, etc then I'd understand wanting to baby it. Trust me the tenacious is a simple knife to take care of!

Look at the Byrd line.
G10 models run about 30 and frn about 20.
I've been carrying a frn Meadowlark for a while at work and it is a tough knife.
