Going to pick up one. Deciding on the satin blade or black blade. Just wondering how the black blade looks after using it. Your thoughts on the two blades.
Thanks

Definitely satin because the black rubs off fast unless you like the beat up look on black blades, just don't expect it to hold up like benchmades coating. After all, it is a $20 knife

I've been researching the Rat-2 the last couple days. It's the next knife I will be getting. Everything I read/saw says that coating is only painted on and will definitely wear off easily. Because of the that, I'm getting the satin bladed version.

Yeah basically it's just a painted on finish. If anything I would suggest the satin.

This is a Rat 1, but you can see how the coating is affected by use.

I have both. The satin finish doesn't show wear like the black painted version.

If the OP doesn't mind................ how do you guys like your Rat-2? It's the next purchase on my list, as it appears to be a great budget folder and I'm a sucker for liner locks.

The rat 2 is small. It is what my wife carries. (With the pink handle) It would be perfect if you have small/medium hands. I wear size XL gloves and it fits my hand OK, but it feels small. Unless you have gargantuan hands I think it would work for you. Hell, it's 25 bucks - take a chance! It is a very well designed knife and looks great with the satin blade.

A rat-2 has been in my pocket for the past two years. Opens easily, locks tight and just the right size. Stays sharp and is not too heavy. A good knife at a good price. What's not to like?
